RFQ Checklist

shell and tube heat exchanger design

Before specifying shell and tube heat exchanger design, resolve fluid assignment, fouling allowance, allowable pressure drop, and whether tubes or the bundle can be accessed in the proposed service clearance. This page is a decision dossier, not an environmental statement. There is no carbon, net-zero or circular-economy claim here. Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger Sourcing uses the checklist to keep factory quotes comparable. It does not certify plants or treat catalog kW as a contracted outlet temperature.

Approval record

Approval record: Equipment scope

Record fluids and flow rate on each side, inlet and outlet temperatures, heat duty in kW, working pressure in bar or psi, fouling allowance, allowable pressure drop, metallurgy, bundle type, quantity and destination. Attach the duty-sheet revision by name. Work envelope is the remaining length for tube or bundle extraction, not only the installed footprint. Tooling is extraction gear and gaskets. Feedstock is the process fluid chemistry, including viscosity at the lowest temperature. Three-phase supply, connected load and PLC interface names apply only if a skid with motors or instruments is in the design.

Price exclusions

Tick whether insulation, spare gaskets, tube plugs, lifting beams, spare parts, training, installation, freight, duties and commissioning are inside or outside the shell and tube heat exchanger design price. A missing tick is an exclusion. Cooling water treatment, compressed air for actuators and SAT travel are also site-cost items. No percentage advantage is stated on this page. Optional budget notes (currency, per-unit or whole-order) help search; they are not a factory rating. Supplier preference (premium, mid-range, budget-friendly, or not sure) is a buyer selection.

Remaining inputs: chloride or corrosion notes for stainless selections, actual pull-space sketch, spare-parts list, and whether FAT is witnessed. Mark unknowns. Do not invent connected load for a passive exchanger.

Selection trade-off: single exchanger versus an integrated thermal train. Interfaces, staffing and acceptance boundaries differ. A second trade-off is catalog heat duty versus validated outlet temperature on the buyer’s flow rate. A third is machine price versus installed project cost. Cycle time for cleaning after changeover belongs in the approval record if campaigns switch fluids. Positioning of nozzles is judged on drawings. Supply frequency in Hz must match the US plant if electric auxiliaries are included. Cooling water quality is a utility fact, not an implied factory performance claim.

Reference observation dated 2026-09-17 on an open Alfa Laval Aalborg MC page is used only as a unit and attribute checklist (heat duty kW, steam flow kg/h, shell/tube bar, temperature °C). That observation is not a US-localized ranking claim and is not an offer from this service. This independent sourcing guide does not imply affiliation with the manufacturer.
